Topic > Capital punishment: give me freedom or give me death?

Six ago, in Greek and Roman culture, there were many ways of execution for prisoners, such as: putting the person in a bag with poisonous snakes and letting them kill them, or putting them in a copper bull which they would put the person in the bull closes it. Then they lit a fire under the bull and listened to the person scream. The screams turned into smoke when passing through his nostrils making it seem like he was crazy (history channel). In the biblical era the death penalty was also used in harsh ways such as stoning people like the famous story of Jesus which says that he who has not sinned cast the first stone. And no one threw the stone because somehow in his life he did something but wasn't caught. Many types of murder are used today as most people are unaware of the fact that we are not the only country in the world. The Taliban today still uses some of these harsh methods. In the book The Kite Runner at the Football Match he witnesses a public execution when they bury the person up to the head, then take a sword and cut off the head and clean it up for the start of the second half (Hosseini). There was a time when rulers did not use capital punishment: during the reign of King Cnut and William the Conqueror, the death penalty was not used. But they used torture and this was often fatal. According to the Greek law of the Draconian Code all crimes, no matter how small, were always punishable by death (Bedau). The most notorious period was the French Revolution, when anyone other than citizens would discover a crime for which they could be killed, such as treason. King Louis XVI was one of the last people killed in that period for treason due to his lavish lifestyle and enormous amount of poverty with...... middle of paper ......are pure enough to kill another person can kill him/her, but no one is pure enough to kill someone. In conclusion, with this nice document against the death penalty if you don't agree with my position we need to talk because the biggest battle for death penalty advocates are the cost efficient that most people think it is cheaper to kill the person. But as I found out and told you, the cost is much higher to kill an inmate because of the legal fees which amount to about 2-3 million dollars just for the legal fees and then if he/she is convicted there must be 23 hours of maximum security for those on death row. This is just the cost of living for the next 20-30 years because in most states they won't kill you for a while, the technique is to let you sit there and not know when you're going to get killed until the day before.
