I had the opportunity to find out more about the south Milwaukee community as it relates to health promotion, maintenance, and disease management. Our team had to carry out windshield surveys, interviews, look for common health problems and at the same time use our knowledge of the nursing process to perform a community assessment. We found out after interviewing and analyzing data that south Milwaukee populations suffer from hypertension and mental health disorders. Our nursing intervention was to implement physical health promotion, South Milwaukee has recreation centers and a senior center next to city hall that offers a variety of classes and activities especially for the middle-aged population that is mostly seen in this city. Involve the community more in physical effort and in physical classes and activities according to a program based on their availability.
