Director Robert Luketic brings Elle Woods' story to the big screen in the 2001 romantic comedy, Legally Blonde. The soundtrack was produced by Rolfe Kent. Starting with the theme song, Hoku's "Perfect Day" creates a cheerful atmosphere in the college party scene. A drive across campus combines the sounds of bicycle bells, whistles from football players and sighs of happiness. A New Future is Born begins with a sweet melody as Elle prepares for her electrifying night, her heels clicking down the stairs. The sweet melody continues to play in the background creating a whimsical setting as Elle and Warner kiss romantically and go to dinner. Elle and Warner begin a conversation at the restaurant with a toast as their champagne glasses clink together. The scene blends into a quiet state as Warner says, “I think we should break up.” Soft music starts moving and she creates a look of horror on her face. She begins to cry hysterically as the music speeds up and she gets up to leave the restaurant. The music fades as she walks home and all you can hear is the click of her heels on the sidewalk. Starving of Depression starts the sound of birds chirping outside the school campus. Elle is in her dorm and soft music starts playing while a sad romance movie plays in the background. Elle's friends soon take her out to distract her; this activates a fast and cheerful orchestra representing the change in mood. I'm Going to Harvard begins with birds chirping outside and soft, soothing music playing in the background. As soft music plays in the background, Elle tells her friends she's going to Harvard Law School. The video Essay and exam is the beginning of a new adventure and a fast orchestra plays in the background of him... in the middle of the paper... sound of cameras and flashing lights while journalists talk to Elle. The fast music continues as Elle walks out the door and vanishes into a bright light. On graduation day two years later, Elle Woods' name is announced and the graduates applaud as a graduation song plays in the background. Elle presents her graduation speech and ends with the song "Perfect Day" by Hoku. The sounds represent the positive and negative situations that Elle experiences. When Elle goes through sad situations she plays slow music and during triumphant scenes she plays fast music. Elle's clicking heels represent points of success in her life or important situations such as walking into a courtroom. Hoku's "Perfect Day" was played at the beginning of the film to represent fun in the college party scene and ended with his successful legal career and graduation from law school..
