Furthermore, they will often refuse when forced to “break up” with their parasocial friend. People in the world of social media have extreme emotions about the people they connect with online (Kirsh 7). This shows negative cognitive effects on the individual, because young people in parasocial relationships showed that they tend to feel lonely and were lacking in real-life relationships. People who interact online for most of the day are unable to develop the right skills they need to be able to interact with others face-to-face. An example that people see everywhere is our young people physically with their friends, but they text each other or chat quickly, but never really talk. Researchers have shown that people who have parasocial relationships are a result of coming from a home where they do not receive the desired attention. So they will look for any form of online connection so that they can express their feelings freely, and
