In a world that changes every minute thanks to technology, people's views of who and what they are are changing just as rapidly. In all this change where is peace in the world? The world is a place of constant change, and much of this change comes from the machine of war and the advancement of technology. Some of mankind's greatest innovations arose from the need to defend the rights and freedoms of diverse people. The military is not only used to protect others, but is also employed in an attempt to rule or eliminate what are perceived as weaker or inferior races. For centuries there has been conflict between tribes, countries and nations. If humanity continues down this path, it will no longer be the controlling entity on this planet. In a famous quote, Benjamin Franklin said: “Even peace can be purchased at too high a price.” This means that any life lost in war is too high a price to pay. Over the time humanity has been on this planet, has this price been paid over and over again to no avail? Even today, wars are fought in many countries around the world. When will it end, when will there finally be peace in the world? Many things will have to change to achieve this noble goal. The goal of world peace is a possibility and may even be realized in the near future, as more and more countries find freedom, self-government and become part of the global community. A global community that not only serves itself but also helps stabilize the world community. All of these things are just part of what is needed to ensure global peace. What will it take to achieve true, lasting and stable peace? First of all, what does world peace mean? Wikipedia offers this definition: World peace is an ideal of freedom, peace and... middle of paper... positions are only the beginning of the process that can lead to world peace. After all people are considered equal, perhaps there will be the possibility of global peace that lasts.
