The 1990s era was an explosive time in American history both figuratively and literally. There was an extreme variety of different failures and also technological advancements in the 1990s. We as a nation have had new advances in space travel, our military, and lifestyle preparing for the end of the century. As a country we didn't know what the new millennium would have in store for us, but we were ready. The most significant change in America, however, came about through our creativity, our fear, and our militaristic ways. In the 90s, the concept of music had a huge explosion compared to previous years, although there were many more acts of creativity. First, music has played an important role in society compared to other decades. The most famous of this period were Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime and Rage Against the Machine, to name a few. These bands defiantly showed the creativity that America possessed and it is demonstrated by the amount of 90s music that is still around. Another concept of creativity was fashion. Two major forms of clothing emerged that differentiated America from the rest of the world. This was the beginning of jeans and flannel shirts. Having these items of clothing spread across the country defiantly set America apart. Finally, the pop culture of this era also showcased the creativity of our nation. The Pokemon were the ones that stood out the most from everything else. The production of millions of “baseball cards” with animated animals on them has caused a stir among children and teenagers across the country. The pleasure of having a strong creative drive in America wasn't a bad thing at all, yet a decade can't always be perfect. Aside from the happiness brought... middle of paper... yes, America used its new advanced militaristic ways were the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia. This took place during the Kosovo War and demonstrated how significant an impact America could have in a war. The 1990s, as they ended, had a tremendous expansion in our nation's militaristic ways, which will continue to benefit us through future generations. Our nation has come a long way with our new creativity, our fear, and our new militaristic ways. Although every generation since 1900 has come to play a role in how America is sculpted, the 1990s represented the final push into the new century. The final push that was given as a nation was definitely beneficial for America and also for the rest of the world. Today it has been dramatically influenced by the cultural changes of the 1990s and still feels the effects of all three of the most significant points of this era.
