Internet Censorship: How It Affects EducationHow does Internet Censorship Affect Education? This is the question that needs to be answered. Censorship cannot be completely eliminated in schools and society and the law simply would not allow it. Even the Internet cannot be completely censored, because the technology simply does not exist. People have different positions on this issue and can be divided into four general groups: government, parents, students and teachers. Everyone has different opinions on the matter, although it has not yet been decided who is right or wrong. First, it's important to know some facts. Under current U.S. federal law, CIPA or the (Children's Internet Protection Act) requires that any educational institution that receives federal funding for technology install and implement technology for the purpose of filtering and/or blocking prohibited material on such structure Internet. Current law states the following; “Require the installation and use by schools and libraries of technology to filter or block material on the Internet on computers with Internet access in order to receive or maintain universal service assistance.” This law was passed by congress and signed by President Clinton in 2000. (NET BLOCK) Teachers and students over the age of seventeen. they are legally exempt from CIPA, meaning that internet blocking has no effect on them, although many institutions still use it because it keeps teachers on track with their work, as well as students.
