An iconography is a symbolic representation that carries with it the hidden meaning of a term, an image and an object. Both Conrad's Heart of Darkness and Achebe's Things Fall Apart completely describe many symbolisms of specific objects and all are connected to different types of meaning behind. Although Heart of Darkness is a famous literature that was criticized by Chinua Achebe and each of their works represents different points of view in similar historical periods, both literatures have a similarity in that they operate in iconography in relation to race, class and to identity with one's own interpretations of symbols and icons. Heart of Darkness is full of stories about race and racism. In general, Europeans are the main racist characters appearing in the text and talk about race more often than other characters. Most of the European characters constantly use racist phrases to describe the native Africans.
