Miss Gulch is a grumpy old lady who rides her bicycle to Dorothy's house to see Dorothy, Uncle Henry, and Aunt Em to complain about Toto biting her. He threatens Uncle Dorothy that if they don't hand over the dog, he will sue for damages to take away the entire farm. She also has orders from the sheriff to take Toto with her and Dorothy responded furiously and called Miss Gulch a "Wicked Old Witch". In the film, the viewer is given a hint that Miss Gulch might be a real witch. However, when Dorothy is swept away by the cyclone in the film, a wicked witch flies by her window and looks just like Miss Gulch, except for the black dress and green skin. After the cyclone stops, Dorothy has landed in the Land of Oz, where everyone she meets later on her journey home resembles people she knew before the cyclone. Compared to the original story of The Wonderful Land of Oz, Miss Gulch does not exist in the book nor does she transform into the Wicked Witch of the West in the magical land of Oz. Another important fact is that the Wicked Witch of the West in the film is depicted as a green-skinned stooped lady wearing a black dress and a pointed black hat, in comparison, to an old witch wearing a mixed dress with an eyepiece on one
