To date or not to date a multicultural girl? This is the question. Nowadays, one of the most difficult things to do in our life is to find the right girl for us. We all know that we live in an ethnic country, that racism no longer makes sense. Junot Diaz is a Dominican-American writer who wrote "How to Date a Brown Girl, a Black Girl, a White Girl, or a Halfie," which textual analysis contains a multicultural. In this story we can highlight many different parts, which talks about how to date a multicultural girl. Based on the story of Junot Diaz, ethnicity is one of the biggest factors that make kids treat the opposite sex differently; however, due to his choice of words, being offensive towards my culture, and trying to redeem himself by also making offensive statements towards white people. When someone reads this story, at first they see that his choice of words is not as formal as it should be considering Diaz is a creative writing professor, but when you look closer you can see what he meant to say those words and use that language. In the story it started with how the boy tries to deceive his mother so that he can stay at home and spend time with the girl who is coming soon. But it doesn't clarify who the girl is, what she looks like, what her ethnicity is and so on and so forth. So by doing so, it makes us wonder who that girl is and why she is trying so hard to get her mother out of the house. And in the second paragraph of the story he mentions: “Remove the government cheese from the refrigerator” (Diaz 1). By this he tries to say that he is aimed at the majority of the lower middle class. It also means that the main character is a boy who comes from a lower middle class f...... middle of paper...... cultures, they have different rules. You have to be brave and smart with your plan to follow through. Even when he talked about white girls and how they are really accommodating. This story was a great example of a multicultural text, bringing all cultures together. Making jokes always brings joy and laughter to people, but making fun of their culture is a different thing. Jonat Diaz used this element to enhance his story by creating connections between himself and his audience. By teasing them he tried to get closer to them. Today this is how we approach each other. It's a brutal world where making fun of others brings us together. But overall he made many points by bringing cultures together and creating a multicultural text.
