This quote refers to the sniper as in the short story Liam O' Flaherty states that a young man in the story is on a roof fighting in the civil war in Ireland. O' Flaherty writes this short story about a sniper fighting in the war to describe how brutal war is. A way used to describe how horrible the combat is. Liam describes how the warrior hasn't eaten for a long period of time, and when he finally gets to eat he simply chews on a small sandwich. O'flaherty writes this to describe the brutality of war and what a soldier. Sniper uses many areas where things are done to people that shouldn't be done if the world can get along. The sniper is about a civil war in Ireland, comparable to the horrible things that are happening to Syrian citizens who flee their country for a better life due to the unbearable and horrible living conditions there (Rodgers, 2015). . Furthermore, the rebellion of Muslims in the country has led to people who shouldn't do the things they do, such as using children and women as weapons, just as Liam uses an old lady to look for snipers in his story (Rodgers, 2015). Liam O'flaherty describes the sacrifices you have to make while in battle, such as when he describes how the sniper hasn't eaten for a long time and when all he has is a small sandwich which he swallows extremely quickly. This sacrifice is comparable to those made during the Siege of Leningrad, where one million lives were lost in nine hundred days after Germany invaded the Soviet Union and warriors were left stranded in the brutal cold (Crowley, 1996). The whole reason he wrote this was to give solidarity to snipers who have gone through and live their lives with the fact that they killed someone. Furthermore, this was written to inform the reader about what soldiers do for the people and what they fight for. The beautiful part of this story is how it describes why they fought and the strength needed to fight a war. War is one of the deadliest and most horrible things a person has to face
