Some sports will remain unchanged and virtually untouched by technology, for example American football has proven over time to be a very resilient technology.6 When 2020 arrives it is assumed that many sports will allow willingly allow technology to become an even greater part of their sporting culture. Problematic calls will become a thing of the past in those sports where football will continue to have human referees running around trying to keep up with all 22 players at once.6 While these problems may continue in the sport, not all sports will cause him to be so closed-minded to the ideas of the technological and automation advances that will occur. One way or another, every sports company and association will be a technologically advanced company by 2020.3 The sports industry will be heavily driven by computers and smart apps. Roy Jones, professor of sports technology at Loughborough University, said that by 2020 "we may have future scenarios where no one goes to watch live sport, preferring instead to watch it on television."6 I believe this will be the case for many sporting events, but no one will be more affected by this phenomenon than the auto racing industry. I believe there will come a time when the Daytona 500 will be run without many live appearances or even live athletes. Technology is advancing and this will make this a real possibility. The biggest problem preventing this from happening is letting cars communicate with each other to avoid collisions.
