The Telephone in its Early Stages One of the first recorded experiments in creating communication that can be transmitted from a distance where direct speech is not reachable was that conducted by British physicist and polymath Robert Hooke from 1664 to 1685 He is credited with an acoustic telephone made in 1667. But the real wave of these communication devices began in the 20th century; On April 3, 1973, Motorola manager Martin Cooper made a phone call (in front of reporters) to Dr. Joel S. Engel, head of research at AT&T's Bell Labs. This began the era of the portable cell phone. The telephone later became a necessity like any other. ADVANCEMENTS IN CELLULAR PHONE 2 The Smart Phone The latest and popular version of these portable cell phones is the Smart Phone. “[They are] powerful connected devices that give users access to the full power of the Internet to communicate with each other in a variety of ways. … One smartphone can handle them all” (Duffy 1). Thomas J. Duffy also stated that “smartphones are the personal computers of the future” (2). “Small, elegant, and versatile modern mobile devices [that] have become powerful tools…[.]” (Meier 1) Figure 1. MOBILE PHONE ADVANCES3 Unlocking the History of the SmartphoneSmartphones are so compact and lightweight these days, but that wasn't always the case. In 1994, according to Duffy (2013), “IBM and Bellsouth introduced the first smartphone as a joint effort and named it IBM Simon.” It had all the features of the cell phone and also includes a calendar, address book, clock, calculator......half of paper...ionic waste. As you can see this is another mobile phone innovation that progresses the right way. I think I've really convinced you. I have nothing else to conclude, thanks and that's allSiti Works CitedOnline→ Duffy, T. (2013). Programming with mobile applications: Android(tm), ios, and windowsphone 7.
