E-mail is the most used communication tool within companies today. The email has been described as a curse and a blessing. Emails reach recipients quickly and can be sent worldwide in seconds. Companies with multiple locations find this to be essential in communication. Email can also reach a large number of people at the touch of a button. Sending a mass email reaches many recipients with a consistent message. While there is a lot of praise for email, you need to consider its disadvantages as well. Email communication can have a financial impact on an organization. Emails sent without a clear message can lead to misinterpretations that can ultimately cost the company money. Employees often complain of receiving up to, sometimes more than 100 emails a day and often many are not about them. For every email the employee has to read to determine its value or spend time reading to perceive a clear message, it reduces the employee's productivity. While this article clearly identifies the cost of ineffective emails and lost productivity, solutions to improve efficient email writing are lacking.
