Edward Hyde, the Doctor drinks a serum he created to get rid of his "evil" side. If, for example, you give a child a gun and promise there will be no consequences, the child will harm everyone and everything he sees. This is essentially what Dr. Hyde did when he freed his shrunken counterpart, Mr. Hyde.
