The Evil of Witches and Lady Macbeth In Shakespeare's play Macbeth, the main character, Macbeth has many motivations and influences that push him to do evil deeds. Lady Macbeth is the main one. He pressures Macbeth to kill King Duncan. Additionally, there are the three witches, who give Macbeth prophecies that manipulate him where disaster strikes at the end of the play. Macbeth's character changes throughout the play. At the beginning of the play Macbeth is a kind, loyal hero, and at the end he becomes an evil tyrant. One day Macbeth comes home to his wife (Lady Macbeth) and tells her all about the prophecies and how he was crowned. Thane of Cawdor by the King of Scotland, King Duncan. For the reader this was a big mistake; he tells his wife. With sudden amusement, Lady Macbeth prepares a plan for her husband to execute the king, but thinks her husband is too kind to carry it out. “It is too full of the milk of human kindness.” Lady Macbeth creates a plan: "And we will not fail. When Duncan sleeps... When they sleep in swine's sleep.../Their drenched nature lies as in a death, What cannot you and I perform before Duncan unattended . Macbeth was shocked and surprised by Lady Macbeth's proposal and had refused to follow her orders. Then Lady Macbeth returned saying: "What a beast he was, then, when you dared to do it, then you were a man; and to be more than you were, you would be much more of a man..." Lady Macbeth said which set Macbeth off and then used his plan to attack Duncan. The prophecy that Macbeth found quite appealing was that he would become the future king. "Hello all, Macbeth!, who will be king from now on!" At first Macbeth does not believe the witches' words thinking that they are lying, but slowly he begins to come to his senses, when the things the witches say come true. Macbeth therefore believes that he should let fate take its course by waiting and letting what has been said happen, and if it doesn't, then it will.
