This essay will explore the socio-economic context that affects Regina and the circumstances she faces in her life. In addition to this, I will examine the sociological model of social class as to why Regina is in the specific social position she is in, as well as investigate the contributing factors associated with social class and health issues. The definition of sociology described together with the social class model itself. First I will give a brief overview of Regina's situation; Regina is a 23-year-old single mother with a two-year-old son. She lives alone in public housing in Bridgeton. Since the age of 8 he has suffered from arthritis, which can be extremely painful at times and requires the continuous help of his mother and best friend to care for his son. Due to her health conditions, Regina cannot work and therefore receives state benefits. Pension reform worries Regina. Furthermore, Regina and her ex-partner are arguing over the issue of child visits. Although Regina receives multidisciplinary help for her arthritis, she is concerned about the instability of her disease and now feels socially isolated and depressed. The definition of sociology can be defined in numerous ways and there is no right or wrong answer, I have chosen the simplest explanation I can find, which is “Sociology is the study of social life, groups and human societies. It is a dazzling and compelling undertaking, which takes as its subject our behavior as social beings. The scope of sociology is extremely broad and ranges from the analysis of passing encounters on the street to the investigation of social processes on a global level” (Giddens “ Sociology”, 1...... half of the document ..... .ae treat it successfully.ReferencesBBC News (2013).
