Despite the privileges men have over women in so many areas, it's truly a miserable thought when you realize that just why would a man be like this strong, silent warriors who are unable to express their emotions. While not as strongly stated in O'Connor's story, it can be seen in a way if you really dig deep. The story may focus mostly on the grandmother, but not once does Bailey actually speak up and tell her mother what she really thinks or feels. In fact, the only emotion that is okay to show for someone who identifies as male is anger. Too often, if a male is seen crying, he is told to stop being a whiny baby, or even to stop being such a girl. This in itself really shows how the world views the female population due to the fact that female gender is used as some sort of insult. In every aspect of life everyone should be treated equally, especially when it comes to mere biological difference
