Faith Hospital needs some positive changes. As with many healthcare institutions, the need to change to better meet the demands and expectations of our patients and our community is ever-present. These changes will help Faith Hospital become a stronger force within the medical community. And enable our people to continue to serve and help others live longer, healthier lives for many years to come. This hospital must be run without operational losses. To do this we will have to make some changes to the policy and operation of this hospital. We must meet the expectations of our mission statement: "With the foundation and commitment of our spiritual heritage and values, our mission is to promote the health and well-being of people in the communities we serve through a full continuum of services provided in collaboration with partners who share the same vision and values."To continue to achieve the quality of care that has become a standard here at this institution we will need to significantly increase our patient population or reduce our costs fixed 15% in a year, to continue to break even. We must do so and continue to serve all of our patients in the manner that our board of directors has defined through our mission statement. There are several issues that need to be addressed to help bring the organization back into profit and in line with the high standards required by our board. The first issue is the fact that DNR or Do Not Resuscitate orders were not handled properly. There have been cases where doctors did not follow these orders or misplaced these orders. Another problem is that policies have not been put in place enough to define what to do with patients who arrive without insurance. These policies should be so clear that it would be impossible to misinterpret them. The final problem is that we have increasing costs and decreasing patients, to keep this institution running we must increase our reimbursement rate per patient. While these problems may seem insurmountable in any time period, they are not. We can solve these problems by implementing some changes and changing the way we communicate and understand the business.
