Topic > The Central Bank: The Worst Idea in History - 1039

No one wants their freedoms curtailed, stolen, seized or threatened. Our nation fought for eight years during the American Revolution to break Britain's stranglehold on Americans. After the war ended and America became independent, there had to be a plan. Where would all these free people go? Would they settle across the country and live like the Indians who inhabited the places around them? It may not have been a bad idea, but just as the Indians were driven from their homes by the Americans, any other foreign power would eventually do the same to the Americans. Helen Keller makes the point well when she says, “The most pathetic person in the world is one who has sight but no vision.” According to Karl Walling, Hamilton had a vision, and his vision was to establish “a new world order.” centuries, a republican empire, which would provide an effective moral alternative to the genuine Machiavellian regimes of its time.” This quote can be interpreted in a negative or positive way. The negative would be that Hamilton wanted a monarchy in the form of the new United States. The good thing would be that at that time every other nation or tribe used a form of monarchy in their regions; everyone around Americans worked like Machiavellian people. America was supposed to be different. The word Machiavellian indicates someone who tries to achieve his goals with cunning, scheming and unscrupulous methods. (Parliament and the King really only sought their own advantage.) A republican empire had to demonstrate that we were no longer just a small, insignificant colony. The reason why Hamilton chose to use the British example was because they had stood the test of time. Hamilton used the traces of the British monarchy as bases that hit f... middle of paper... didn't branch across state lines, no one really wanted to trust this again because of what happened with Jefferson. While not all of Hamilton's ideas work for many people, one cannot ignore the fact that some sort of leadership was needed, and Hamilton provided it. Hamilton helped our nation become what it is today, for better or for worse, but we are still standing. There had to be order and a strong foundation for America to stand the test of time.
