In Islam, marriage is a contract between two people. It is necessary that a certain amount of money is passed on to the bride. This idea of dowry comes from the word in Arabic; Mahr. Furthermore, like both Christianity and Judaism, Islam is strict regarding the concept of chastity. It is the element of remaining pure. Since marriage in Islam is hidden from relationship, which is evident from the root of the Arabic word meaning marriage. The Arabic word Nikah can be translated as marriage and "sexual intercourse." We see in Islam a very mutual marriage, we see the concept of equality between the couple. This is supported when examining divorce in Islam. Divorce is not prohibited like in Christianity where there must be annulment. The Muslim faith recognizes marriage as a “transaction” in some sense. There is a contract that must be accepted in full by both husband and wife, and two Muslims must be present to witness it. After signing the contract and deciding on the Mahr, the wedding can be celebrated. It is not necessary for the woman to be present when the contract is signed, but the bride usually tends to be present. The Quran holds marriage in high regard and allows for the presence of sexual will. In fact, if you complete the marriage contract you have essentially completed half of your faith in Islam. Furthermore, the Quran continues to describe some things that must happen in a marriage. It is even stated that a Muslim man can marry a Muslim woman or a woman included in the People of the Book. The People of the Book are called Kitabi in Islam. This would mean that a Muslim man could marry a Christian or Jewish woman; however, this… middle of the paper… helps the husband complete household chores and have children. Divorce in Christianity is not encouraged; in fact, everything possible must be done to save the marriage. In fact, the Catholic Church does not grant divorce unless annulment is permitted. An annulment will be granted if there is any type of abuse in the relationship. However, the Catholic Church will first try to save what remains of the marriage before allowing the couple to divorce. Marriage is seen as a relationship that will last until death, which is why the couple is separated. Unlike Islam, there is no definitive answer in the Bible to the question of whether Jesus would ever marry. Finally, the Christian faith does not allow that marriage can be celebrated between people of the same sex. The only Christian division that allows this to some extent is that of some branches of the Protestants.
