Another savior in the story who helped his people while being respectful to himself is Hamlet. Through its many characters, plots, themes, and symbols, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, incorporates many Christian references into the play. Hamlet's constant struggle to achieve peace within himself and to avenge his father's death takes the audience on a journey that touches on the theme of religion and power. The question of how the death of old King Hamlet occurred, the story is often similar to the events and values present in the time of the Son of God, Jesus Christ. Evil is detected in Hamlet's uncle Claudius, who has taken control of the kingdom and the important people in his life. A savior is a figure who saves someone or something from danger, and that is exactly what Hamlet does in the play. To discover the truth and reveal it, he fights continuous battles with the help of his friend Orazio. Hamlet is a savior for Denmark because he offers a sacrifice, is a protector, has a persistent mindset, and is faithful. Since the death of his father, the late King Hamlet, he is often faced with thoughts of suicide, sin, and life after death. Through his first soliloquy, Hamlet contemplates suicide because he cannot deal with the grief resulting from the death of his father and the remarriage of his mother, Queen Gertrude, and his uncle Claudius. Following Christian values, he goes on to say that it would be a sin to do so: “Oh, if this too solid flesh would melt, melt and resolve into dew! Or that the LORD had not set his canon "against self-killing!" (Act I, scene II, lines 129-132). He continues to maintain this “Christian value” until the end of the work, but further contemplates his own… middle of paper… capable of being a protector of his people and kingdom. After all the internal and external struggles, Hamlet continued to follow the values and rules established and practiced by the savior. He performed the final act of saving his Danish people, giving up his own life. It was important to him that the kingdom was not left with an immoral ruler, and this is one of the main reasons why he is the savior and protector of his people. For the sake of others, he sacrificed his life and whatever power he might have had in the kingdom. To also give up your life and not take it yourself, even when you suffer so much pain, for the sake of others, which shows the values and ethics of a hero. In Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, the main character Hamlet is depicted as a savior who continues to protect his values by remaining strong and providing a safe kingdom.
