As people look through history, certain things amaze and interest them. One thing that amazed me was Greek mythology and what certain Gods were the Gods of. Many people know about the gods called Zeus and Hades. Zeus, god of the sky and lightning and Hades, god of the underworld. In this essay I will write about the story of Zeus and Hades. ZeusZeus was the god of the sky and ruler of the gods, but before becoming ruler of the other Greek gods he was simply Zeus, the youngest son of the titans Cronus and Rhea and brother of Hades and Poseidon. Zeus and his brothers drew lots to see who would succeed their father on the throne. Zeus won the draw and became the ruler of the gods and the sky. His other brothers Poseidon and Hades continued to live other lives. Hades became the ruler of the underworld after drawing his share to the universe. Poseidon continued to do the same thing, except he continued to rule the sea. Even before they cast lots, Zeus was not just an ordinary Hades is always depicted as a stern, bearded man, with a crown on his head, a scepter and a key in his hand to show how carefully he guards those who enter his domains and how vain are their hopes of escape. There were no temples dedicated to him and his statues are very rare. Hades' main item of power is his Helm of Darkness, which can make him invisible. Hades is also associated with Cerberus, a three-headed underworld guard dog. Cerberus is said to have a principal, but the principal is not of hair, but of snakes. He was said to eat only living flesh and was the son of Echidna, a half-woman, half-snake, and Typhon, a fire-breathing giant. Cerberus is best known as the guardian of the gates of Hades. In Cerberus he is depicted as a dog with three ferocious heads and a serpent's tail. He is one of the great Greek monsters born from Typhon and
