CRITICALLY ANALYZE HOW THE STUDY OF ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR WILL INFLUENCE THE GROWTH AND EXCELLENCE OF AN ORGANIZATION BASED IN NAIROBI OR ANY OTHER URBAN AREA. INTRODUCTION: Robbins, (1986) defines an organization as a continuously coordinated social unit composed of two or more people who function on a relatively continuous basis to achieve a common goal. Nzuve (1999) describes it as a coordinated social environment in which people interact to achieve a fundamental goal. An organization is made up of two or more people and can include hospitals, churches, schools, ministries, unions, etc. Cole (1998) defines organizational behavior as a systematic study of the behavior of individuals within work groups, including an analysis of the nature of groups, development of structures between and within groups, and the process of implementing change. KEY ISSUES ADDRESSED IN ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR. The main issues addressed by Nzuve (1998) are:1. Personal (individual behavior and performance at work.2. The way people work in teams and the nature of their work.3. The nature of social structures and organization designed at work.4. The processes required when adapting to behavior and changing conditions in an organization. WHY ORGANIZATIONS EXIST. According to Johns, (1995) organization exists because it can achieve results that individuals cannot achieve alone due to the following: a) Grouping individuals together they can overcome the limits imposed by the physical environment and their own biological limits. b) Organizations provide an individual need for companionship. c) Organizations increase production capacity because they allow: specialization (division of labor), exchange, synergy (this concept...... half of the document ...... and adapted by closely observing organizations.
