Topic > FWD vs RWD: Why RWD is Better - 964

The battle between FWD and RWD has been going on for 50 years. I am writing this essay to demonstrate that rear-wheel drive is the correct layout for 2WD vehicles. Customers are confused about which wheels actually drive the vehicle and which is best for their particular needs. There are four main forms of drive: front-wheel drive (FWD), rear-wheel drive (RWD), all-wheel drive (4WD), or all-wheel drive (AWD). Each has its advantages and there is no single best layout for all situations. Normally, sedans are based on FWD and RWD drive, the other two are used for SUVs and trucks. The question of whether customers should buy FWD and RWD cars is complex and controversial. Different people have different ideas due to their driving experience and consumer attitudes. On the one hand, many people believe that only rear-wheel drive cars represent luxury and high performance. On the other hand, cars made with front-wheel drive are much cheaper and more popular. However, most customers are blind and ignorant about it. Many of them don't even know the automotive layout of their sedan after using it for decades. From the literal meaning, with rear-wheel drive, the rear wheels drive the vehicle. RWD appears with the invention of automobiles. Before the 1950s, rear-wheel drive vehicles were the most common, such as the well-known VW Beetle and the Ford Model T. Later, with the spread of FWD and 4WD versions, the percentage of rear-wheel drive vehicles decreased dramatically. Currently only trucks, sports cars and luxury cars are still based on rear-wheel drive. FWD, which means front-wheel drive, is more popular now because it is cheaper than RWD. Although both ways have a couple of pros and cons, I will definitely choose RWD. There is no doubt that luxury and high-quality cars such as Mercedes-Benz and BMW who have experience in the automotive industry will choose R...... middle of paper...... Cars with all-wheel drive are definitely worth it for 2WD sedan consumers. Some people may insist that front-wheel drive cars are cheaper than rear-wheel drive cars. However, because rear-wheel drive cars are cheap to repair and fun to drive, there is no doubt that they should be the first choice for both automakers and consumers. I believe that in the future you will feel much safer with rear-wheel drive cars. References Silver, S. (2010). How to Determine If Your Car is Front- or Rear-Wheel Drive Wikihow.com.
