Topic > Afghanistan: a country like no other - 881

The territory is ravaged by countless improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs). Amputee children limp from place to place while women hide their faces from the rest of the world. The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is located at 33.00 degrees north and 65.00 degrees east. Found in South Asia, in a highly conflicted region known as the Middle East and called the crossroads of Central Asia. Landlocked, it is located in the center of Iran, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and China. Afghanistan's shattered and devastated history is painted red by the blood of war and struggles to overcome its past and develop a sense of sustainability. We can see this through the education of individuals, treatment of the environment, and agricultural practices. Nicknamed the "graveyard of empires" (CNN article), the history of Afghanistan's course is plagued by countless war efforts by various empires starting as early as 382 BC Alexander the Great invaded the territory that now constitutes present-day Afghanistan. After its fall the Scythians (a nomadic people), the White Huns (believed to be from the Tibet region) and the Turks (from Turkey) invaded to reclaim the land. 600 years later, in 642 AD, the Arab people infiltrated the territory and brought with them the religion of Islam which remains predominant in modern Afghanistan today. The Persians soon after forced the Arab people out of the region and held it until 998, when the Ghaznavid Turks took control of the territory. They subsequently retired, making way for Muhammad, leader and prophet of the Islamic faith. Shortly after his death, princes across the country attempted to gain control of various regions by dividing the country into multiple trials… middle of paper… he would be executed for learning to read and write. Death to educate the people, an unfair price that many have paid dearly. However, without the education of both women and men, the country is likely to continue its routine of two steps forward and one step back in its quest to build a nation. Along with education, people begin to notice problems that need to be solved within the country, such as the environmental issues that Afghanistan currently faces. .graveyard/ http://totallycoolpix.com/2011/09/10-years-of-war-in-afghanistan/ https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/af .html2) "Global margin".
